Striving for unity

Finance | September 1, 2023

Hawsons’ core values are at the root of the business, and the team are driven by the same values and work together towards clear goals. Those values are: to develop lasting relationships, to be ever-evolving, to be personable and to promote empowerment, unity, quality and growth.

Hawsons has been introducing its core values throughout 2023 and focus- ing on a different value each month, September’s value is Unity. Unity is key to creating a sense of belonging through respect, inclusion and communication.

It’s important to the firm to work together to succeed across its three offices. As part of the core values campaign, all of the offices have been involved in a series of activities relating to the core value of the month, as well individuals being asked to nominate a colleague they feel best represents that value. During this time, a range of materials has been produced and given out to staff as a reminder of the values of the company.

This month’s activity was an online social, where all three offices were able to tune in online and talk amongst each other to solve an escape room mystery in their mixed teams. New fleeces and gilets, navy blue and embroidered with the Hawsons logo, have also been handed out around the offices.

Aaron Hemmington, Partner at Hawsons, said: “Holding these value months is important to reiterate the message to all staff about working together as a team to reach the same goals, focusing on the seven values within everything we do.”

In addition to the core value month, Hawsons held a team rounders game. The players headed to a nearby park and set up an amusing yet competitive match. The office was split into two teams, chosen fairly and staff were able to interact under different conditions, developing closer bonds as they competed in a fun event. The event was particularly beneficial to those newer team members who had already thrown themselves into the bi-weekly Monday night football games.
