Awards success results in a donation that was above and beyond…

Daventry based Hi-Force Ltd, who were winners of the Business of the Year at the 2019 Northamptonshire Business Awards have made a charitable donation to a Wellingborough based charity that is “above and beyond.”

Hi-Force, who are the UK’s leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of hydraulic tools, have an impressive product range comprising of over 2,000 products. Whilst their Head Office is in Daventry, employing over 100 people, they are very much an international business with 9 regional offices across the globe supplying and servicing 70 countries. On winning the award, Group Managing Director, Kevin Brown said “We were delighted to receive the award. Coincidentally, the whole Group of Board Directors were in the UK for a board meeting, so it was great to celebrate this award together.” Before Stephen K Amos introduced Jon Thorpe, Managing Director of ACS Office Solutions, to present the Business of the Year award, the Community Project or Person of the Year was announced, and that winner was Niamh’s Next Step, a children’s cancer charity based in Wellingborough. Kevin added, “When we watched the charity videos we were in awe of how many great initiatives are happening in the county, but the video for Niamh’s Next Step had everyone choked, and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room. Our donation will hopefully make a difference, alongside the awareness of their award success.”

Niamh’s Next Step was set up by Niamh’s parents, Sam and Chris Curry, to continue her legacy and to make a difference in the research of Neuroblastoma, which is a rare childhood cancer. Chris said, “I couldn’t make the awards as I was under the weather, but I was receiving messages from people at the awards saying we had won, which was amazing, and then a few minutes later, more messages came through, someone has donated £25,000. We couldn’t believe it. So many people have supported our charity in recent years and done amazing things, but for someone, who we have never met, who did not meet Niamh, but heard about her, to go and make a donation for £25,000 is incredibly moving. Hi-Force have gone above and beyond, and we are eternally grateful.”
