Local rugby player selected for Scotland U18 training team

Moulton College student, Olly Frostick has been selected to train for the Scotland U18 Rugby Union team, preparing for the Six Nations Festival in France in April. Olly will train alongside players from two of the most dominant rugby schools in the UK; Kirkham Grammar School and Sedbergh, both based in the north east.

Olly, who currently plays for Northampton Saints U18s has been part of the rugby academy at Moulton College for the past two years, and, with the support of coach Phil Powell has honed his skills in the sport.

Olly commented: “I feel privileged to have such a supportive team behind me. Moulton has played a huge part in getting me to this point. I’ve been able to make use of great facilities, and work alongside some of the best sports gurus, so there’s not a lot more I could ask!”

“I’ve played for various clubs in the past including London Broncos, and I soon decided that Rugby Union was the sport for me. Being able to play for Northampton Saints alongside my studies has given me the confidence and experience to face any challenge, and I’m ready to work hard and make the Moulton team proud.”

The Six Nations Festival will see Scotland face Italy, England and the host, France. The final team selection will take place once the training camp has been completed.

Head of Rugby at Moulton College, Phil Powell said:

“From now until the Festival, we’ve got an intense training plan in place to ensure Olly improves his overall technique and general fitness in preparation for final selection. He’s done incredibly well to make it to the U18 training squad, and the whole department is immensely proud.”
