School tennis team ranked fourth in the country

Girls from a Northamptonshire school travelled to Bolton at the beginning of December to take part in one of the country’s premier youth tennis competitions. The team from Northampton High School in Hardingstone travelled to the UK National Finals to compete in an event featuring teams from all across the country – with over 600 entries this year alone.

The young side, comprising of students Charlotte, Eliza, Ella, Emma and Isabelle, qualified for the tournament at the end of the last academic year, after victories in the county and regional rounds, and they entered the competition full of confidence. At the event the competition was fierce, with the team facing off against second seeds Prior Park College, first seeds Putney and also Sheffield High. Despite falling to defeat, the final rankings saw the team place fourth nationally, an outstanding achievement and one on which the squad will look to build on in the coming months.
