Our wonderful nursery offers children aged 3 - 4 the perfect start to their learning journey. For our dedicated team of experienced nursery staff, the happiness of the children is paramount and the health and safety and emotional well-being are priorities for our youngest pupils. We have bright, colourful, spacious rooms along with a secure outdoor play area, where we combine all the advantages of a conventional nursery with a wonderful range of learning opportunities.
We strive to develop independence of thought and self-expression and children are encouraged to explore, question and listen. We teach children that learning is fun whilst following the EYFS Statutory Framework.
We share with parents using an online journal, recording all the learning and fun of children’s early years education.
Music and dance lessons are organised with specialist teachers and children experience Forest School at Irchester Park.
We can use Wellingborough School’s excellent facilities and full-time children have a hot meal each day cooked on the premises.
Children who have turned three by Tuesday 1st September can attend our nursery on a full or part-time basis. The nursery operates during term time.
Whilst our nursery children move naturally and seamlessly to one of our two Reception classes, we always welcome a number of new children starting in our Reception. Class sizes average 16 with one teacher and a full-time teaching assistant to support. The classrooms are well resourced and have direct access to their own outdoor play area.
Young children learn best by doing. Those who join our nursery and Reception classes benefit from broad and enriching experiences related to the world around them. Their busy ‘hands-on’ days are filled with learning activities, outings and visiting experts, together with the all-important opportunities for play and developing friendships. The foundations for literacy and numeracy are laid and creativity is encouraged.
The curriculum for the under fives centres around the seven areas of learning. These are made up of three prime areas which are communication and language, physical development and personal, social and emotional development and the four specific areas: literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive art and design. The well-planned activities covering all these areas ensure that children make very good progress in a happy, well-balanced way.
Reception children can also enjoy music and dance lessons and are introduced to Spanish. All the children perform in a play in December and participate in a class assembly. Other delights include inviting parents to tea on special days and joining in whole school events such as Sports Day.
One of our exciting new projects is the development of outdoor learning areas within our extensive grounds which will encourage all the children to enjoy the great outdoors, develop teamwork skills and understand the importance of the natural world.
We will be holding Discovery Days throughout the course of the year where families are invited to visit us and see, first-hand, the excitement of a normal school day. If you would be interested in attending one of our future events, we would love to welcome you to our wonderful school.
