Warm Hospitality Awaits When Lockdown is Lifted

Bedford Blues are pleased to announce a new and exciting joint venture with Burrow Venues at Goldington Road, The Burrow at the Blues, which will open following the conclusion of the national lockdown.

The new bar and hospitality venue will add another fantastic experience to match day at Bedford’s premier sporting club, whilst also operating every Thursday to Sunday all year round.

Located in the South East corner of Goldington Road, at the bottom of the renowned ‘Slope’, The Burrow at the Blues has been under construction for the past few weeks and despite the national lockdown putting a delay to the grand unveiling, the venue is scheduled to open in December subject to government guidelines.

Speaking on the new venture, Bedford Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred commented: “We’re really excited by this latest concept that we are working on with Matt and Alex from Burrow Venues. We hope this will give supporters and local residents alike, a new venue and unique bar experience to enjoy all year round.

“We were also very keen to build on the momentum we have created with the recent Blues Beer Garden and Blues Oktoberfest. Whilst lockdown has postponed the launch slightly, we are looking forward to Christmas at The Burrow and in the Blues Marquee, for our Festive Fun dates.

“When we are finally allowed and able to return to match days at Goldington Road, this venue will become our latest hospitality offering and provides a great view of the pitch, quality street food and will offer a slightly different range of beers thanks to our partners at Marston’s.”

The Burrow at the Blues is a fully seated and heated venue and its official opening will be subject to numerous COVID-19 related safety measures running in line with the Bedford Blues Risk Management Plan.

The new venue will offer a socially distanced and relaxed atmosphere for all to enjoy, including a street food inspired menu from Peckish Festival Food alongside drinks from The Imperial Bar, featuring a wide selection of spirits, wines, draught products and softs.

Bedford’s latest bar and hospitality setting sees the Blues and Burrow Venues again working together having joined forces to host the highly successful Blues Beer Garden last summer.

Burrow’s relationship with the club started over two years ago with just a small mulled wine outlet around the ground on match day. Their usual events and festival partnerships, ranging from The Jockey Club to Bedford Park Concert Series, have proved very successful pre-COVID, but since lockdown both businesses have focused on local opportunities.

Bedford Blues are proud to continue their ethos of collaborating with local businesses on new projects and look forward to welcoming as many Bedfordians to the new bar and hospitality venue when permitted.
