Pub reopens after major investment and renovation

A historic Northampton town centre pub is reopening on Friday July 22 after a large investment in the building. Situated on the Drapery and Drum Lane, Shipmans offers a new drinking destination with a varied premium menu.

After a large renovation run by Goodfellows Builders, Metcalf Decorators and interiors by Sacha Interiors, owner McManus Pub Co. is excited to reopen the bar to the public.

The pub is set to become an exciting destination where locals can catch up, enjoy refreshing drinks including cocktails and reminisce about times gone by. The menu will include brunches, fresh sandwiches, sharing boards and pub classics all made to order in the new kitchen. An accompanying drinks menu with pairing wines and cocktails will also be available.

The pub was built in 1790 and has been through numerous owners, names and guises since. McManus Pub Co. has now encapsulated the history of the bar by utilising wooden interiors, restoring existing features such as fireplaces, the barrel taps above the bar and signage. The upstairs will be offering an extension to the bar for dining as well as the opportunity to book for special occasions, meetings and corporate events. Many locals are pleased to see the return of the Shipmans, often remembering visiting with their parents and grandparents or popping by on a market day.
