Two new partners have been appointed at DFA Law, the Northampton firm that, although steeped in 184 years of history, is constantly looking to the future as a modern, dynamic legal practice.
Elaine Lo, who joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2004, and Michael Nadin, who joined as an experienced lawyer in 2018, have both been promoted to Partner.
The firm’s commitment to recruiting and retaining top professionals has seen it grow into a blend of the modern and the traditional, upholding the important principles of professional integrity and personal service.
Elaine Lo, who qualified as a solicitor in 2006, specialises in commercial property law, and advises on a range of transactions, acting for private individuals, small local businesses, large companies, pension funds and trusts.
The Commercial Property department at DFA Law offers a range of services including those concerned with buying and selling commercial property, granting and taking leases, residential and commercial property development, business property and asset sales and purchases, as well as general property advice and problem solving.
Elaine said:
“I am very proud to have been appointed as a partner, and to be given a more active role in growing the firm and taking it into the future.
“Having joined as a trainee, I see this as an acknowledgement of my hard work and commitment to DFA Law, and also is a testament to how the firm invests in its staff, from trainee through to partner.
“Commercial property has been my specialism since I qualified and the day-to-day role won’t change much, I’ll still be working with regular clients on landlord and tenant work, and for businesses large and small in what is always an interesting sector to work in, and I also hope I’ll now have greater opportunity to get involved with training our younger solicitors.”
Michael Nadin qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and joined DFA Law four years ago as an Associate Solicitor in the Corporate and Commercial Department, after working at firms in Leamington Spa and Leicester. He specialises in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law for businesses and individuals.
The Corporate and Commercial Department advises companies of all kinds of businesses, from public and private companies to start-ups and sole traders. The department includes experts in areas including buying and selling companies and businesses, management buy-outs and buy-ins, private equity investment, director and shareholder issues, franchising and terms of trading.
He said:
“From the moment I joined the firm, I have felt very welcome at DFA Law and have thoroughly enjoyed working with the talented team here. I believe it is a firm that is looking to the future and, as an employment lawyer, I know the importance of a firm investing its staff and always looking for the best people.
“I’m hugely excited to be promoted to Partner and it’s a privilege to hold a senior role in a firm that has played a prominent part in the Northamptonshire legal scene for more than 180 years. I look forward to building the employment department and playing my part in ensuring the success of the firm in the coming years.”
Practice Manager Danny Roberts said:
“On the back of strong growth over recent years we remain committed to investing in the future of the firm. As we continue to expand the legal services we offer to both existing and new clients, these promotions are confirmation of the key roles which both Michael and Elaine play.”
Mark Brown, Senior Partner, added:
“I would like to congratulate both Elaine and Michael on their thoroughly deserved promotions and look forward to working alongside them in the years ahead.”
