There’s still plenty of rugby to keep fans entertained at Goldington Road, home of Bedford’s premier sporting club, between now and the end of the season with Bedford Blues and Bedford Blues Women targeting strong conclusions to the campaign.
For Mike Rayer’s men’s side, there are endless possibilities, with a spot in the Top Four of the Championship well within their grasp – and they may even want to be targeting slightly up the table too in a battle with Ealing, Doncaster and Coventry.
The men only tasted defeat on home soil four times in 2023 and, following a sell-out crowd on New Year’s Day, Goldington Road really is thriving at the moment as one of the best places to be in Bedford.
On the other side of the coin, the club’s women’s team are bulldozing their way through everything that stands in their way. The league title is already wrapped up, it’s now whether they can remain unbeaten throughout the campaign and attempt to get to Twickenham in the cup competition.
A former Blue in his playing days, Eddie Rennell has returned home to help guide the side this season and has made a phenomenal
difference. Participation numbers are up, performances are drastically improving, and it’s a real exciting time to get involved with women’s rugby.
In total, there are seven fixtures still to take place at Goldington Road this season and tickets for all of them are already on sale with online discounts available.
