Courtney Lawes and the rest of the Northampton Saints squad turned out in full support of Northampton Saints Foundation’s biggest fundraising event of the year, raising over £59,000 to help disadvantaged young people in our community.
On Friday March 29 at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, when Saints faced Saracens, the stadium came to life with fundraising activities.
Since its formation in 2018, Northampton Saints Foundation has been using the power of sport and the values of rugby to boost the confidence, self-esteem, and the social and emotional well-being of individuals across Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes and Ipswich.
The event not only showcased an electrifying rugby match, which ended in a win for the Saints, but also witnessed an incredible display of generosity and community spirit.
With over 100 volunteers and support from local businesses, fans were able to take selfies with Northampton Saints players who were giving out free flags, take part in a number of games, plus an auction and raffle featured exclusive items, many donated by the players.
The funds raised during this event will play a pivotal role in advancing the Foundation’s mission to inspire, support and educate individuals through their education and social inclusion programmes. With over 6,000 people supported each year, some of whom are not in education, employment or training, or at risk of exclusion, the Foundation is a lifeline to many in the community.
Catherine Deans, Managing Director of Northampton Saints Foundation, shared her gratitude to all who contributed on the day. She said:
“The success of Foundation Day would not have been possible without the collective efforts of numerous individuals and organisations.
“The funds raised will help support young people who haven’t had the best start in life, who may be struggling in education, getting themselves involved in crime and in need of a different approach. Through our work at the Foundation, we give them the opportunity to make a positive change and create a positive pathway for their future.”
“It’s incredible to see the community come together to make a difference in people’s lives,”
added Sue Wright, the Foundation’s Fundraising Lead.
“Thank you to everyone who donated and got involved, helping to raise an incredible amount of money.”
