Festive feasts and fun on the menu

Bringing Christmas cheer to the county this season is Greedy Gordons, which has announced an array of festive delights for everyone to enjoy.

The award-winning team at Greedy Gordons, whose culinary collection of popular pubs and venues are based in Northamptonshire, unveiled a host of treats in honour of the season.

To get everyone in the right spirit, the group’s popular pub, the Pig and Waffle in Grafton Underwood, will be hosting a Christmas Fair with family fun and activities aplenty. The fair is taking place on Saturday December 1 and entry is £1 per adult, while children go free, with the Greedy Gordons team supporting charitable causes in the community including the Kettering Food Bank and Dementia UK.

The annual event is always phenomenally popular and this year’s seasonal spectacular promises to be even bigger and better. One of the highlights at the traditional fair is the range of craft stalls showcasing perfect presents, sweets and treats.

Richard Gordon, who manages the Greedy Gordons portfolio with business partner Sonya Harvey, said: “We are extremely excited about all our plans for the festive season. We all love Christmas, it’s our favourite time of the year and is one of the busiest times for all of us working in the hospitality sector.

“The Pig and Waffle Christmas Fair is the perfect seasonal showstopper, with something for everyone to enjoy. We are delighted to be supporting our chosen charities and the £10 charge to stall holders will be donated to these deserving good causes. The activities and fundraising are our way of giving something back to the communities that support us all year round.”

The Christmas cracker of an event, which runs from noon to 4pm, will also host a very special seasonal guest as Santa’s Grotto will be welcoming children between 1pm and 3pm. There will be an additional charge to visit Father Christmas, who will be handing out presents to children on the day.

Visitors to the Christmas Fair will have the opportunity to meet the Hollowood rare breeds on display and a local shepherdess will be in attendance with her festive flock in tow.

Pig and Waffle General Manger Nikita Harvey added: “We have an amazing array of activities taking place at our Christmas Fair with stalls offering handmade wooden gifts, sea glass jewellery, hand- made trinkets, fresh holly wreaths, cakes and sweet treats plus so much more. We’ve invited our local choir to sing Christmas carols to help everyone get into the festive spirit.”

There will be hot food and drinks available throughout the event with the venue also hosting a drop off point for people who want to make donations of food and gifts for the Kettering Food Bank. Elsewhere, as the festive season gets under way, Greedy Gordons will be delivering a Christmas to remember. Their portfolio of popular pubs, which also include the award- winning Red Lion at Cranford and The Snooty Fox in Lowick, are all transformed in the run-up to Christmas with spectacular decorations adorning all venues, which also include the Farmshop and Buttery cafe at Woodford.

The pubs are already taking bookings for festive dining and Christmas parties, and can cater for groups of all sizes. Greedy Gordons also announced its gift to patrons this year, which is sure to be a seasonal success.

Richard said: “As our gift to customers visiting us during the Christmas season we will have something extra special to share. To add to the festive fun on offer we will be sharing special Christmas crackers concealing golden tickets offering multiple prizes to be won.

“We are also excited to reveal our Cigar Shop rebrand, the online shop has had an extensive revamp and offers multiple gift options which could make the perfect present. There will be some top tipples to order alongside accessories, vouchers and bespoke greetings cards. Customers can also buy gift vouchers for family and friends to redeem and enjoy at our venues.”

To toast the season there will be wine events to enjoy, including a wine tasting event taking place on November 19 at The Snooty Fox to showcase champagnes, festive fizz and wines perfect to celebrate Christmas in seasonal style.
