Technology is most effective when it is made as easy to use and navigate as possible, and that’s an approach that has seen Northampton business Simply Techspace grow and thrive into a multi-award-winning company within just two years.
Two major factors contribute to the success of the firm, which is part of the umbrella Simply Business Services Group. Firstly, it’s down to using language and terminology everyone understands and treating every client – from a one-man band to a company with thousands of employees – exactly the same.
And secondly, it’s the successful collaboration with sister companies Simply Workspace and Simply Commspace, bringing together every aspect of setting up an office or business premises and then installing the infrastructure to keep it running smoothly.
Simply Techspace was founded in 2023 when Matt Dann joined forces with Jon Bautista from Simply Workspace. Together, the two businesses provide everything from layout design services and fit outs to tables, desks and chairs; as well as the hardware, software, connectivity and IT support that is vital in any modern business.

Matt Dann said: “We started out with just the two of us, building a help desk from scratch. That was important to us because we wanted things done the right way – treating people as we would want to be treated ourselves, and making sure every client, no matter how big or small they are, gets the same level of personal, quality services.
“Over two years we’ve grown from two to 25 people, across all departments from tech support to sales and admin and we’ve got a new Sales Director starting very shortly. We have clients all over the UK as well as a growing office in Dubai, and we think all of that is down to just getting the basics right.
“And, of course, we work locally with some major clients, such as Delapré Abbey and the Northampton and Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce, and we have a number of significant new contracts in the pipeline as we go into the new year.”
Constant growth and high service levels have seen Simply Techspace recognised at a number of awards ceremonies, including the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards, organised by All Things Business, and was also a sponsor of the Secondary School of the Year Award at the Northamptonshire Education Awards.

Education is a key market for the company, accounting for around 25% for its work. For schools with premises to maintain and refurbish, and IT systems that have to be robust and secure, and with tight budgets to work within, the combined services of the Simply Business team help make the process smoother and more efficient.
Earlier this year, Simply Commspace was launched, headed up by Pasquale Cerbelli and Alan Buckley, to focus specifically on telephony and mobile business services. In addition, Jay Neal-Edlington joined the company as Group Development Manager, supporting growth by making sure all new and existing clients understand exactly what is available through the group of companies.
A move from its original premises happened just a short while after the company was formed, and a further move, to an even larger space on Moulton Park, is already set to happen over the next few weeks.
Matt and Jon put much of the growth of the company down to the unique proposition of providing a single point of contact regardless of what clients’ needs are, from IT support and cyber security, to a full office fit out with reconfiguration, furniture, telecoms, IT and connectivity.

“That’s what makes us unique,” said Jon. “We can provide as much or as little as clients need from us, but because we have that wide range of services, it opens up constant opportunities. So, for instance, at the moment, one of Simply Techspace’s largest contracts is with a client that first approached Simply Workspace. It’s a massive, new-build warehouse project that needs the services of all sides of the business and that’s a great example of how we can be that one-stop shop.”
Matt added: “Growth has happened quickly but very naturally; as the tech team grew we needed a bigger sales team and then a bigger admin department to support them. As with our clients, we’ve built a great team because we treat them as we want to be treated ourselves.
“Staff are happy coming to work because we have got those basics right. We treat them well and we do a good job, and they buy into our approach of not differentiating by size of client but just treating everyone the same and delivering the same high-quality service every day to every client.”
