Harnessing the latest technology, Kingsley Roofing & Solar has provided a client with a solution that transforms the process of ensuring new build homes meet sustainability guidelines.
After winning the contract to supply and install a solar array for a new block of 27 flats in Birmingham, the Northamptonshire firm responded to the fact that some of the flats were not achieving green targets and suggested the installation of the SolShare system.
The revolutionary system is a solar PV sharing device that can physically split the energy from a single rooftop solar system and divide it between multiple dwellings.
Paul Bone, Managing Director of Kingsley Roofing & Solar, said: “Unlike houses or commercial buildings, new blocks of flats have to show that each flat meets the designated SAP points, which measure a property’s energy efficiency.
Always ready to innovate, the company has recently completed its first green roof, which is not only aesthetically pleasing but helps insulate the building and regulate internal temperatures, as well as providing a whole ecosystem that is good for the environment, improving air quality and attracting wildlife.

Paul Bone added: “It’s the first time we’ve used SolShare and we are impressed by what it can do and it’s an important tool for our clients when they are considering building regulations and hitting green targets.
“Part of our role is to help clients make efficient use of the technology available to ensure their efforts towards sustainability and lowering energy use are effective, so we’re always looking to be innovative in our thinking.”
Working with the community, both with business clients and on a wider level, is also important to Kingsley Roofing & Solar, and the firm recently took advantage of a new initiative launched by Tempeo Recruitment at Northampton Town’s Sixfields stadium.
The Tempeo Community Lounge is a dedicated space that allows businesses to give something back to the community, inviting charities and organisations to enjoy some matchday hospitality.

Last month, Kingsley Roofing & Solar hosted the Northamptonshire Trampoline Gymnastics Academy (NTGA) for a match at Sixfields, where the guests not only enjoyed a day of fun and matchday hospitality, but saw Northampton Town win against Mansfield Town as an added bonus.
Paul said: “This was only the second Tempeo Community Lounge initiative, and we were delighted to be part of it as we think it’s a fantastic idea.
“We have recently become more involved in NTGA as a new partnership and we want to support what the centre does. It’s a not-for-profit organisation that has around 1,000 members and touches all areas of the community, from national and international performers to disadvantaged children and children with disabilities.
“We took a group for an afternoon at the Cobblers’ Tempeo Community Lounge where users, carers and volunteers enjoyed some great hospitality including a raffle, a magic mirror and magician.
“Tempeo have pitched their lounge as being for charity use, rather than for fundraising. Businesses and invited guests might get to experience matchday hospitality on a regular basis, and it’s a great day out, but not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to do that, so it’s amazing to be able to give a group from a charity that we support the chance to experience the same treatment.
“And the Cobblers won, so that was a welcome bonus.”
