Additional space in which to enjoy restaurant’s renowned cuisine

Multi-award-winning restaurant The Palmichael has expanded over two floors to create more space not just for diners that come from across the area, but also to host business lunches, private dining and functions.

The renowned Italian restaurant in Burton Latimer took Gold in the Restaurant of the Year category at last year’s Weetabix Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards, the third time it has taken the title.

In order to cope with demand for Head Chef Michael Palmiero’s classic dishes, the first floor was refurbished in 2020 to almost double the amount of covers available during the busiest periods. In addition, the versatile space, with its own bar, is ideal for larger groups or business lunches or corporate entertaining. Depending on the size of the party, guests might prefer to choose from the main menu or organise a set menu with the restaurant team.

Michael’s sister, Maria Walker, runs the front of house and was delighted to see The Palmichael pick up the Restaurant of the Year award in 2023.

“We are very proud to have been named as winners again, it’s the first time since the refurbishment, which saw us expand upstairs and also create a small snug area on the first floor where people can relax with a drink before or after their meal,” she said.

“Opening up the first floor has given us more space in the evenings, there’s now space for another 35 to 40 people in addition to the 50 covers downstairs, which is much needed as we were regularly at capacity.

“We specialise in traditional Italian dishes – antipasti and pasta dishes, but mainly a lot of steaks, fish and seafood. Our chefs use fresh Northamptonshire ingredients sourced from local suppliers where possible.”

The Palmichael, which has been owned and run by the Palmeiro family since 1981, has built an excellent reputation for fine dining over the years and sees regular customers visiting time and time again from across the county. The menu is made up of the classics Michael has developed over the years combined with specials and new dishes that are developed by Michael and his team using their combined years of experience in Italian cuisine.
