Organic growth and a demand for expert financial advice has seen Kettering firm Anstee & Co expand further – creating a team of advisers that is predominantly female, something of a rarity within an industry in which only around 16% of IFAs are women.
Founded by Caroline Anstee in 2012, Anstee & Co has grown from two people to around 20, with six Financial Designers, two Mortgage Designers and an experienced support team.
Latest recruit Carly Buck joined Caroline, Rachel Efetha and Tegan Gladman in the Financial Designers team, alongside Darren Amos and Bill Fountain.
Caroline Anstee said: “When Carly joined us late last year that brought the total to four female Financial Designers, which is pretty rare in this industry in a company this size. It’s not a deliberate policy, and our clients are pretty much a 50-50 split of male and female, but I do think it adds elements to the team that fit well with our ethos of providing a bespoke personal service for our clients.
“We do as much for our clients as we possibly can, always making sure that they get to know a range of people within the team. I mentored Tegan for three years and I was always keen that she came to meetings to meet and get to know the clients. It’s important that if a client gets in touch, and their regular point of contact isn’t available, there is another person, someone they are familiar with, who can help.”
Anstee & Co is fully independent so all advice and products are based on clients’ needs and finding what is right for them, rather than being tied to a specific provider or service line. Services include retirement planning, investments, mortgages, equity release, employee benefits and insurance.
Caroline’s ethos of getting to the reasons why a client approaches Anstee & Co for help and advice is what she considers a driving factor in the steady growth of the company.
“Because we are fully independent, clients can trust that they are getting the best possible advice,” said Caroline.
“When Carly joined, she commented that we do a lot more for our clients that is expected of us, and she’s right. We’re not investment managers, but we will help them to find the right advice from other experts where they need it, and if we need to help them with HMRC issues or planning for a change of career or cash flow, we will do that. A bespoke service that shows that we care about the work we do for our clients is what we want to achieve and always will be.
“When I started the business I wanted to do things the way I thought they should be done, and that hasn’t changed over the years. It doesn’t matter how much money a client has to invest, it’s important to them that their money is used and invested wisely, and we’re here to help them achieve what they want to achieve with their savings.”
