Modern motoring, for many, is about finding a careful balance between driving something that looks good out on the road, is safe and reliable, and that is also as kind to the environment as is reasonably possible.
For shorter journeys and daily commutes, the Tubby Tyre Scooter Company provides the perfect solution – electrically powered, road worthy vehicles that are road tax free, are easy to manoeuvre and park, but still guarantee you make a lasting impression wherever you go.
Built from scratch by the Northampton company, Tubby Tyre Scooters comply with all Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) regulations, with each one individually tested and registered before it is delivered to its new owner. The scooters can be ridden by anyone over 16 with the correct type of driving licence, including provisional plus CBT.
They are classed as a moped and the 2,000 Watt motor delivers a maximum speed of 28 mph and, assuming a driver of average size and weight, the powerful battery gives a range of up to 30 miles. Each new scooter comes with a 12-month warranty and ongoing maintenance support.
Steve Mirfin, founder of the Tubby Tyre Scooter Company, said:
“We all think about the environmental effects of our motoring these days and even when we don’t have to consider ULEZ or congestion charges, most people still want to do the best they can to reduce their carbon footprint, so our scooters are ideal. The batteries can be removed from their housing, so you can take them into the office with you to charge for the return journey. A full battery charge, which only requires a standard three-pin plug, takes around six hours, and costs literally pennies, so they really are a cheaper and more convenient option for many commuters.”
The three models in the Tubby Tyre Scooters range are:
- The No-Road One – for those who only want to use the scooter off-road
- The Basic One – a fully UK road-legal scooter with lots of standard features
- The Special One – available in a bespoke design with a choice of nine frame colours.
Because The Special One can be branded with logos or company colours, the scooters are a fantastic form of marketing, as Steve and the team report plenty of interest from passers-by and other motorists when they take them out on the road. The company also offers three-wheel road-legal trikes and a handsome Fairway Edition golf scooter.
Steve said:
“We’re increasingly encouraged to think about the environ- mental effects of motoring and electric vehicles are going to be increasingly prevalent over the next few years. Tubby Tyre Scooters are one way to cut not only your fuel consumption, but also your running costs, while at the same time having the pleasure that comes from driving something that’s a little but fun and out of the ordinary.”
