Entries are now open for the 2024 Milton Keynes Education Awards (MKEAs) following a successful inaugural event last year.
In September 2023, teachers, headteachers and support staff got together with invited guests, sponsors and organisers to see host broadcaster Eammon Holmes announce the winners at an award ceremony that celebrated the best the Milton Keynes education sector has to offer.
The awards are organised by All Things Business, building on the success of the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards and the Northamptonshire Education Awards which have grown over the past few years into leading events in the county’s awards calendar and have been awarded Outstanding by the Awards Trustmark scheme.
This year, with new categories already announced and news of this year’s host set to be released soon, the MKEAs promise to be even more hotly contested, with some even tougher decisions for the judges and topped off with another glittering awards night.
Facilities Management Solutions and Brioche Pasquier will be the headline sponsors, and finalists will compete in 14 categories, including, new for 2024, IT Champion, Unsung Hero, and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champion.
Other awards to be presented at the awards evening on Friday, July 5 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Milton Keynes will include SEND School of the Year, School Business Manager of the Year, Headteacher of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Entries can be put forward by the schools, teachers, teams and individuals themselves, or potential finalists can be nominated by anyone from headteachers and team leaders to parents and colleagues. All entries must be completed by Friday, May 3 and the finalists will be announced on May 13. Tickets for the evening will go on sale shortly after the finalists are announced.
Ben Thomas, Managing Director of All Things Business, said:
“Last year, after having run successful education awards events in Northamptonshire for some years, we decided it was time that all those in the Milton Keynes area got the recognition they deserved, too.
“We were blown away by the interest in the awards, and the standard of the entries – it made the judging very difficult indeed. But the most amazing thing was how many people came along on the night, to a new event, to celebrate Milton Keynes’ educators.
“Our motto is Education Needs Business and Business Needs Education and we are delighted to welcome two fantastic local companies as our new headline sponsors. There are still sponsorship opportunities for any business that wants to get involved in an awards night that really means so much to so many people.”
