Excellent quality and value – just ask the customers

The overriding aim of The Hopping Hare is to provide excellent quality food at great value prices alongside first-class customer service. It would appear from customer reviews that this objective is being achieved.

As one of only four venues in the county with two AA rosettes and as the recipient of a Gold award for Restaurant of the Year at the Weetabix Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards last year, the Duston restaurant has little left to prove. Which is why ongoing, impressive reviews left on the Trip Advisor platform are a regular reminder of the quality of the venue and service.

Using carefully selected suppliers (locally wherever possible) the kitchen team, led by executive chef Karl Penny, has devised an impressive a la carte menu, described in the AA Report as offering ‘a generous amount of dishes.’

On Friday evenings, guests can enjoy a Tasting Menu at £50 per person, while special events, such as the Warner’s Gin Night – with a full menu of dishes, carefully paired with Warner’s gins – planned for May 15, offer something a little bit different. Owner David George said:

“The Tasting Menu is always popular and is excellent value for money, while something like the gin night, where the very entertaining Tom Warner from Warner’s talks guests through each of the courses, are great fun.

“Many people don’t realise that we have 20 luxury bedrooms on site, which are perfect for just relaxing and enjoying yourself without having to worry about taxis and getting home afterwards.”

The Hopping Hare entered the Trip Advisor Hall of Fame in 2019, and the family-run restaurant regularly receives compliments and recommendations published on the site. Among the recent posts were:

“For a pub/restaurant/hotel, this was an extremely pleasant experience. The staff (particularly Maddie) were all very pleasant and professional. We had an evening meal that was way above the usual in terms of quality and presentation.”

And:

“Our group were celebrating a special birthday. We all enjoyed our meals, which were very tasty and beautifully presented. Thank you to Abigail, our waitress, for her excellent service, and extra thanks to David, who went above and beyond to make our friend’s birthday even more special.”
