The Hopping Hare in Duston is renowned for the excellent dining experience it offers, its comprehensive wine list and well-stocked bar, and its warm welcome for customers.
The Hopping Hare holds two AA rosettes, one of only five venues in the county to do so. Its Friday Tasting Menus give diners the chance to sample the kitchen’s full range of expertise, and throughout the rest of the week there is an a la carte menu for lunchtimes and evenings, as well as a children’s menu and Sunday lunch menu, that cater to all tastes and occasions.
The dishes on offer change regularly and a few examples from the sample menus are enough to tickle the tastebuds. The a la carte menu offers the likes of duo of mackerel – soused and torched fillets with smoked pate, avocado mousse, fennel, cucumber and orange as a starter. Pan-roasted breast of Gressingham duck and salt-baked celeriac are among the mains.
The Sunday menu offers a range of roast meats as well as a wide selection of starters and fish and vegetarian mains, while the children’s menu provides a selection to please younger guests. Starters might include soup or vegetable sticks with dips, while mains offer up favourites such as pan-fried chicken with seasonal vegetables and mash, or fish, chips and peas.
On Sunday June 15, there will be a special Father’s Day menu for families looking to celebrate dad’s special day.
David George, owner of The Hopping Hare, said: “The menus are designed to provide something for everyone and for all ages. We use fresh produce, sourced locally wherever possible, and the kitchen team – the team behind us winning Gold in the Restaurant of the Year category at the Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards last year – are always striving to come up with something new and different.”

The Hopping Hare also has a beautiful outdoor seating area with its own menu, as well as 20 luxurious bedrooms for guests looking for an overnight stay.
Situated close to Althorp House, Northampton Saints and the town centre, including the Royal and Derngate theatre, The Hopping Hare is an excellent base for visitors. It has been selected to partner in a prize competition with the team behind Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical, which is at the theatre from September 15 to 20. The lucky competition winner will be staying at The Hopping Hare overnight.
Providing excellent customer service is a main priority at The Hopping Hare, which has been recognised by being inducted into the Trip Advisor Hall of Fame on the strength of its reviews.
