I’m pleased to say that 100 female start-up owners will receive free business training, as the City Council has invested £43,000 in an eight-week long programme to provide support to women starting out with their own businesses.
Incubation Nation, an organisation dedicated to supporting female founders and business owners across the city, has received the funding to run a bootcamp to help businesses with cash flow, increasing business profitability, social media training, concept validation, business planning and other general business support. As part of this training, entrepreneurs will also have access to dedicated one-on-one sessions with an experienced business owner.
This programme forms part of the wider £3.1m Economic Recovery Plan which has benefited more than 900 local businesses so far.
As part of this, we are investing £250,000 to support women into work as research shows women are almost twice as likely to have lost their jobs during the pandemic than men.
There is also a large proportion of women who are self-employed here in Milton Keynes as around a fifth of women choose to work as self-employed to balance work and family life. The business bootcamps are currently accepting applications. However, businesses interested in enrolling for the programme must meet certain criteria:
- -the business must be based in Milton Keynes
- -the business must have an annual turnover of less than £85,000
- -the business must be female founded
