Good things in store for guests during summer

Sunny days, rainy days, inside, outside, romantic meals for two, big celebrations for the whole family; Kettering Park Hotel & Spa really does have something for absolutely everyone.

Hopefully, the early summer months will see the fine weather hold so that guests can enjoy the hotel’s newest outdoor food and drinks area, The Lawn Club.

Introduced last summer, The Lawn Club is set in the hotel’s beautifully landscaped gardens and is a retreat for those who want to enjoy a meal or drink with friends in the open air. The space is as perfect for families and friends to gather in the afternoon sunshine to play lawn games as it is for couples and work colleagues to stop off for a drink on a warm evening on the way home from work.

Created as the ultimate al fresco setting, with pergolas and wall and floor lights, The Lawn Club offers a special menu of lighter summer dishes and snacks, as well as a selection of afternoon teas, and, of course, a range of refreshing drinks when the heat is on.

It’s not possible to rely on the British summer, however, and regardless of the weather, Kettering Park Hotel’s bar and restaurant are popular throughout the year.

The a la carte menu includes such delights as Gressingham Duck breast with burnt apple puree; salt-baked celeriac with candied walnuts; and a whole range of steaks and burgers with a selection of sauces.

The bar menu is served throughout the day and includes breakfast, salads and appetisers and hot and cold sandwiches, as well as choice of main dishes including Caesar salad, Thwaites beer battered fish and chips and a chickpea and grilled pepper burger, as well as sides and desserts.

Afternoon tea is available daily from noon to 5pm and must be booked in advance. From the Traditional Afternoon Tea at £32.95 per person to a Sparkling Afternoon Tea (£38.50) and Champagne Afternoon Tea, which is £41.75, there’s something to suit all tastes and occasions.

Sunday lunch at Kettering Park Hotel is always a special event – comprising a range of starters, followed by the traditional roast dinner of beef, pork belly, salmon or butternut squash Wellington, served with accompaniments and seasonal vegetables, topped off by a choice of desserts, all for £30.95 for adults and £15.50 for children. The restaurant team have matched some excellent wines to complement your food choices, and there’s a selection of Thwaites award-winning ales if that’s more your style.

Kettering Park Hotel & Spa offers dinner with live music every Saturday, where guests can enjoy dinner from the a la carte menu, any time from 6pm to 9.45pm and enjoy listening to local artists while they eat.

On Friday, May 19 is Jazz at Kettering, featuring a live jazz band comprising Nick Dawson on piano, Peter Morgan on bass, Ritchy on drums, Enrico Tomasso on trumpet and Julian Marc Stringle on clarinet. Tickets are £44 per person and include a three-course dinner.

Planned events are a fantastic opportunity to sample the food and ambiance of Kettering Park Hotel, but if you’re looking to entertain a large group – a big family party, perhaps, or an awards dinner or company celebration, the facilities at the hotel are second to none.

The Rutland Suite, for example, which can hold up to 150 people for dinner, can be divided into two smaller rooms, each suitable for up to 60 for dinner; while Little Harrowden is available for private dining for up to 30 people. These and a range of other suites can be configured to suit individual requirements, from cabaret style through to drinks receptions and exhibitions.
