The hot news about the finalists in two major awards was delivered in style – giving the recipients the perfect chance to sit down and recover from the surprise.
Those who’d made it onto the shortlists for the 14 categories in the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards, and 11 categories in the Northamptonshire Education Awards, each received a special mug which, when filled with hot liquid, changed to reveal the finalist announcement.
Those waiting to find out if they’ve won at the awards ceremonies in November include three-times nominee Sign In App (Marketing Campaign of the Year, Employer of the Year and Business of the Year), Northampton College (BIG Business of the Year), Delapre Abbey (Community Project or Person of the Year and the Food & Drink Award), and Mary Dopson-Taylor from Grosvenor Leasing Ltd (Businesswoman of the Year).
In the Northamptonshire Education Awards, Manor School and Northampton School for Boys will battle it out for Secondary School of the Year, while the School Business Manager of the Year will be decided from three nominees; Lisa Barratt from Rushden Academy, Lisa Fleckney from Denfield Park Primary and Sue Valentine-Swallow from The Skylark Partnership.
Ben Thomas from awards organisers All Things Business, said: “We were absolutely delighted with the number of entries received this year, and the quality of candidates was such that even the independent scoring software struggled at times to narrow down the entries to a shortlist.
“Now our judges have the difficult task of choosing a winner in each category, which add suggests we’re in for a couple of very exciting awards nights in November.”
