Its Milton Keynes office is part of its Central Region, working closely with offices in Peterborough and Northampton. The MK office has been providing financial experience and advice to businesses for 35 years, and as a firm MHA is acutely aware of the significant position that Milton Keynes finds itself in as a newly designated city. The opportunities for the business community are wide-ranging and forging strong relationships within that community has always been a key factor of MHA’s strategy within the area.
Here, MHA Partner, Liz Newell, discusses with All Things Business the reasons behind the firm’s continued support of MKBAA.
Q: As a returning premium sponsor of the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards in 2023, what encouraged MHA to be involved again this year?
A: We have been involved in the awards for many years and we hope to continue our sponsorship for many years to come. As we come to 2023, a more normal year, it is important for us to continue to support local businesses and the awards, to ensure that recognition is being given to boost positivity and success in the community.
Q: Being part of the business community is obviously important to MHA, why does staying closely aligned with your local sectors matter so much?
A: We feel that that community is very important. At MHA, we like to give back to the community in any way we can which aligns with our local sectors.
Q: MHA have been sponsoring the awards since 2014, how have you seen the event grow over the years?
A: As a long-standing partner for the awards, it has been a privilege to support and work with local businesses in Milton Keynes over many years. It is always a pleasure to celebrate their successes by supporting the awards and the growing community. The awards have become a place to share such stories and have grown to allow more businesses to be recognised for their achievements within broader categories of recognition.
Q: This year, MHA is sponsoring the Entrepreneur of the Year award, why this category?
A: This particular award is very close to our hearts, we work with many start up and entrepreneurial businesses both locally and nationally. We are proud of the growth of many of our clients that have gone from small firms to thriving businesses in Milton Keynes. This category is an extension for us of the work we do with entrepreneurs, so was the ideal choice of category to sponsor.
Q: This year’s theme for MKBAA is Celebrating Diversity – how does that message resonate with MHA and why do you think it’s an important topic for all businesses in Milton Keynes?
A: We were delighted to hear that this year’s theme is Celebrating Diversity. As a firm, our EDI strategy sets out how MHA is committed to making our workplace a truly diverse and inclusive place, one that empowers and enables all our people to deliver their best. We feel this is important for all businesses to provide an inclusive working environment which can only benefit the community.
Q: Now that Milton Keynes has officially been designated a city, how do you think businesses can benefit from the new status in the long term?
A: The success of city status has been significant for highlighting Milton Keynes on the map. This recognition will attract a variety of different businesses to the area, creating more job roles and in the long term, improve the economic development and opportunities within the community.
Q: What are you looking forward to most about the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards 2023?
A: It’s always a pleasure to hear the success stories here in Milton Keynes from a business perspective; there are many stories that have started with one person, one idea, and to be able to see such success in the community and to be a part of it and celebrate it is a very big thing for us.
