Bedford Blues will retain tradition again this year with a mid-season fixture against The British Army at Goldington Road.
The two teams have a long-established relationship due to their involvement with the historic Mobbs Memorial fixture, which took on a new guise at the start of this season and now sees Blues face Northampton Saints in an annual fixture.
Mike Rayer’s side have a proud record against the servicemen which they will look to defend on home soil, with the fixture, which will take place on Friday March 14 at 7.45pm, acting as the perfect precursor to the final two months of the Championship season.
As an additional benefit for loyal season ticket holders, all 24/25 seasonal members will receive free entry to the fixture. Match ticket- ing starts from just £13 for adults, with the usual discounts applied online when purchased in advance of matchday.
With an average of about 45 points per fixture in the past decade, another cracker is to be expected at Goldington Road on what now becomes the club’s final Friday Night Lights fixture of the campaign.
As well as keeping Bedford match fit with a four-week gap in their season, the game also comes at a hugely important time for The British Army who need to prepare for the Babcock Trophy clash with the Royal Navy at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham in May.
In recent times, the game has given opportunity to young players from across the region to represent Bedford in a capped fixture, none more so that Tommy Herman, who last season was invited to feature in the game and signed for the club that following summer.
This represents another highly competitive fixture in store at the home of Bedford’s premier sporting club and tickets the cheapest at Goldington Road all season.
