New home opens doors onto an exciting future

Inspired by a new manufacturing base that has brought a wealth of new opportunities, modular building specialist company The Qube says it’s ‘hungry and enthused’ by what the future holds.

The firm, which last year moved to new headquarters in Teeton from its former base in Abington, specialises in creating bespoke modular buildings that bring a range of benefits, including ease of assembly and reduced time and disruption on site, as well as offering a sustainable alternative to traditional construction methods.

The move to the purpose-built headquarters has brought the management and manufacturing sides of the business together under one roof, improving efficiency and allowing expansion in terms of capacity and capabilities.

Jordan Spittle, Associate Director at The Qube, said:

“Before the move we were running the business from Northampton and manufacturing at a unit in Wellingborough. Now that we’re in our new premises it’s better for everyone. We’ve got a new, bright modern facility where everyone is in the same place – we can see items taking shape down on the factory floor, and feel closer as a team and there’s no doubt that the extra capacity has led to an increase in revenue and will continue to do so.

“We’ve recently completed one of our biggest contracts, for 10x repeat units with more of the same in the pipeline – none of that would have been possible if we hadn’t made the move, so it’s an exciting time for us and we’re hungry and enthused by the new ideas and opportunities that are presenting themselves”

Over the past couple of years, The Qube has made significant progress in the Tiny Homes market – chassis-built homes that offer alternative living solutions and luxury staycation accommodation.

Alongside that, recent orders have included a range of hotel pods – additional ‘bedrooms’ that can be manufactured at Teeton and then delivered complete to the hotel, lifted by crane into the chosen location. The pods offer a cost-effective alternative to undergoing extensive work to adapt a building, and can be placed within a hotel’s grounds, maybe in woodland or near a lake or river, to provide a luxury stay within the hotel but with the added attractive location and additional privacy.

“We are hoping to be able to work with more clients in the hospitality, leisure and sport sectors and we’re proud to be the supplier of choice of the outdoor adventure company Go Ape for their outdoor adventure units,” said Jordan.

Dan Stafford, Business Manager at Go Ape, said:

Go Ape are excited to partner with The Qube to replace our existing reception buildings with environmentally friendly and innovative construction methods. This will improve our site operations significantly and we look forward to working with the team.”

The Qube carries out all the necessary groundworks and utility connections for the pre-built modular units, which arrive on site complete to the extent that they are painted and finished with all fixtures and fittings already in place.

For its bespoke modular structures, The Qube can design a building to clients’ exacting requirements, taking on the entire project, from handling planning submissions and ensuring compliance with building regulations, construction and groundworks including foundations, drainage and utilities.

Constructed from sustainable materials using Modern Methods of Construction, the clean lines act like building blocks, offering the client freedom to create something that suits their exact requirements, whether it’s extra classrooms, an office, an on-site gym with changing rooms or additional meeting rooms. The benefits of factory construction means that the speed of build is a major advantage when compared to conventional building methods.

Jordan Spittle added:

“There’s so much opportunity here for us and our clients, and we’re talking about permanent structures, not temporary fixes, that can be reconfigured and added to as and when required. We’re excited to be at this point in our growth, designing and building for clients and also manufacturing and marketing our own products and bringing new ideas to market.”

Business & Communications Manager Lauren Kneafsey said:

“The move has been so exciting for everyone at #TeamQube. Moving from Abington, where the business had been for so many years, it felt like the end of an era in some ways. But with the direction the business is going in, as well as both sides of the business being in great positions, Teeton feels like the best move we could have made.

“To work in such a plush office space, for which all of our ideas were taken on board, to now see it nearly complete, it’s the team effort from everyone that makes me feel proud.”
