Northamptonshire-based home improvement specialist, the Emplas Group, has achieved Investors In People (IIP) status at the first attempt.
One of the largest and leading manufacturers of windows and doors in the UK, the Group includes Wellingborough-based Emplas, and T&K Home Improvements.
The award represents a significant achievement and recognition of the investment that Emplas is making in its teams but also infrastructure and service offer. Work to achieve IIP accreditation started in June 2023.
Alison Markham, Group HR Director, said:
“There’s nowhere to hide when you go through an IIP assessment. Everything and everyone is reviewed from the directors to individual employees and that highlights things that as an organisation you do really well, and any development areas.
“It allows you to benchmark. That includes how you’re performing internally but also where you are against the wider industry and other companies.
“We want to be the workplace of choice and window and door manufacturer of choice. We do that by recruiting and retaining the best talent.
“IIP allows us to understand where we need to be better and how to play to our strengths creating a workplace where our people are empowered to achieve and rewarded for success.”
Emplas Group was founded in Northamptonshire in 1979, with its home improvement business T&K, operating throughout Northamptonshire and neighbouring counties.
Today it employs more than 500 people across its businesses, including Ecostar, based in Melbourne, Australia. The award-winning window and door manufacturer operates from two state of the-art-manufacturing facilities totalling 82,000 sq ft off Huxley Close. Emplas was listed as one of Northamptonshire’s leading privately owned companies for the second year in succession at the end of last year in the 11th Northamptonshire Limited Report
Despite it scale the Emplas Group remains family-owned with a commitment to continuous investment in its product and service offer.
Ryan Johnson, Emplas Group Managing Director, said:
“We have ambitions to be a leading UK manufacturer and to achieve that we need to recruit and develop the very best people.
“While much of our work is national, Northamptonshire is where we were founded and it remains the beating heart of our business.
“It’s a centre for exceptional talent and we are proving our commitment to grow and nurture it through IIP and the diverse range of career opportunities that we can offer to our colleagues.”
