Dreams set to come true

Love is in the air at Delapré Abbey, as the historic home launches a competition to treat one Northamptonshire couple to the wedding of their dreams.

Wedding with Thanks, which will see one lucky couple say I Do next year, has been organised by Delapré Abbey to thank and celebrate carers, key and essential workers in Northamptonshire who have gone above and beyond during the coronavirus crisis.

Richard Clinton, Chief Executive, Delapré Abbey, said: “Many couples have had to put their weddings on hold, so this is our way of giving back and saying thank you to those who have worked tirelessly to make an extraordinary difference during these challenging times.”

Wedding with Thanks includes Delapré Abbey’s Bouverie Suite for the ceremony and the reception and a three-course meal for up to 70 people, courtesy of Tom Hewer Catering.

The prize package also includes everything from wedding rings and stationery to a hair stylist for the bride, wedding cake, DJ, wedding band and flowers – all generously provided by Northamptonshire businesses.

Richard, who joined Delapré Abbey as its CEO in April, added: “Romance is most certainly alive here in Northamptonshire. We have had scores of wedding enquiries in the last two months from couples looking beyond COVID-19 who are wanting to start planning and booking.

“At Delapré Abbey we are passionate about supporting and working closely with the local community – and encourage friends and families to enjoy the grounds, share our facilities, join us and be part of our future. We are not just a historic home – the Abbey is here to add wellbeing, culture and heritage to everyone’s lives. And of course, weddings!”

The full package will include a £1,349 photography package from Sky Photography; stationery and invitations from Tangerine Red; wedding rings from Michael Jones Jewellers; MC and DJ courtesy of Potter Group Events; a performance by band White Room; bridal hair by Seckingtons; a three-tier wedding cake from Gardners Bakery; floristry worth around £1,000 from Florry and Forevermore Events; Favours for all the wedding guests courtesy of Applegate Organics and Beauty Within, wedding specialists, will provide the bridal makeup.

Nominate yourself, a friend, colleague, or family member. One or both of the nominated couple should be a carer, key, or essential worker.
