First residents at new development to move in next month

First residents at new development to move in next month

The first residents at a new housing development in Irthlingborough are set to move in this September after construction resumed on site. Workers have now returned to Davidsons Homes Diamond Heights development off Attley Way following a two-month break enforced by the nationwide lockdown.

The move, which has been made possible by the easing of lockdown restrictions, will provide a major boost to the local economy in Irthlingborough.

As well as delivering 88 new homes for the town, the development is supporting around 50 construction jobs on site, which in turn is expected to increase spending in local shops. Davidsons Homes is also delivering an investment of almost £900,000 for local services and infrastructure as part of the planning agreement for the development.

Simon Tyler, Head of Sales for Davidsons Homes South Midlands, said: “The resumption of construction work at Diamond Heights is good news not only for the workers employed on site, but also for the economy in Irthlingborough as a whole. “The creation of these jobs will deliver a short-term boost to the economy in the form of increased spending in local shops during the construction phase, while the development itself will deliver longer-term benefits such as major investment in infrastructure and the arrival of new residents ,which will in turn help to sustain local businesses and services. “As a local housebuilder with our divisional office in Northamptonshire, we are especially pleased to be back on site providing much-needed new homes and investment for Irthlingborough and we look forward to completing work on the first homes in September.”

Financial contributions being made by Davidsons Homes through the planning agreement include £314,000 for secondary schools and £280,000 towards primary education £150,000 towards bus services, £62,000 for Spinney Brook Medical Centre and £19,000 for Irthlingborough Library.

Upper Nene Valley Gravel Pits Special Protection Area will receive £23,000 and a contribution of £30,000 has been allocated towards ecology at the site. The show home at Diamond Heights is due to launch in the first week of August. A range of three-bedroom homes are currently available to purchase off-plan, with prices starting from £249,995.
