Hospitality industry using contact-tracing solution to welcome back customers

As pubs, restaurants and bars across the UK prepare to re-open following an easing of the COVID-19 restrictions, many are relying on touch free technology to keep track of customers.

Many hospitality venues are allowed to open on Saturday 4th July providing they have a data-secure contact tracing solution to collect all visitor details, which must be held for 21 days to enable people to be traced if there is a reported case of coronavirus.

Owners of venues including pubs, bars and restaurants can use ‘Sign In Point’, a data-secure contact tracing solution, to produce printable posters with a QR code. The posters are displayed throughout the venue, allowing visitors to use their smartphone to scan the code and fill in their details.

The contactless solution has been produced by the creators of ‘Sign In App’, a leading visitor management app used by more than 4,400 workplaces and academic bodies to record details of employees and guests. It already offers clients a contactless management solution which allows visitors to an office or school to scan a secure QR code displayed on a reception iPad.

Sign In App Director, Dan Harding, said: “We have a proud track record of using technology to help organisations adapt to changes in the way with live and work.

“Since the outbreak of COVID-19 we have seen growing interest in how our contactless solution can help organisations keep track of visitors in a safe and secure way. Sign In Point is ideal for busy pubs, bars and restaurants, enabling them to securely store visitor details quickly and conveniently.”

Around 6.5 million pub trips are predicted in the UK across Saturday and Sunday, according to the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR), which is around 1.5 million more visits than a typical July weekend.

The bar at Old Northamptonians RFC is preparing to welcome back members this Saturday and will register visitors using Sign In Point and the Sign In App iPad solution.

Commercial Manager, Tom Gregory, said: “In order to keep our staff and members safe, we have implemented a number of safety measures including managing the entry of our guests.

Sign In App and Sign In Point allow us to easily allow our members to record their visit and give us access to all necessary information should it be required.

“Our members range in age from 6 to 96, so having a simple solution to manage entry is key – this solution is extremely user friendly. In the ‘new normal’ I highly recommended having such a simple but vital tool.”
