Reassurance to the elderly during lockdown

Reassurance to the elderly during lockdown

With unprecedented demand during lockdown, and like many businesses operating essential services, Wiltshire Farm Foods has had to adapt its business to the changing times caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

As a business that serves some of the most vulnerable in society, safety and continuing to deliver has never been so important. From the formation of a dedicated Coronavirus Emergency Team with a robust action and evolving contingency plan, to modifying production processes in line with guidelines while maintaining production levels in line with customer demand, the business has been successfully balancing the many variables in a way that has been able to minimise disruption to customers. With an effective and quickly deployed work-from-home policy and redeployment of many staff to customer facing roles, they have been able to respond to customer demand like never before.

With many of its clients over the age of 70, Wiltshire Farm Foods offers speedy, free, safe delivery on its high-quality, delicious and nutritious meals, with no contract or subscription. And as the UK’s leading frozen meals delivery service, the firm says it was in a unique position to help.

Christine Glazewski, Depot Supervisor at Wiltshire Farm Foods’ Finedon depot, said: “We’ve always sought to make a real difference to our customers, by providing delicious and nutritious meals directly to their door. “Many of our customers are over 70 and vulnerable and, like everyone else, struggle to get supermarket delivery slots, which are often booked up for weeks in advance. This is an incredibly difficult time for everyone and Wiltshire Farm Foods’ mission, ‘making a real difference’, has never been more important as many of our customers rely solely on us for their daily meals. Our whole team has rallied round to help.”

It has put in place social distancing measures – drivers have hand sanitisers and gloves – and delivery is completely contactless; but it is the little extras that are making a big difference. Christine added: “The team has started including puzzle books in its deliveries, which have been hugely appreciated by customers, demonstrated by the many thank you letters the team have received over this period. “Our colleagues have been touched by the public’s response to them when out and about, often receiving praise and being told what fantastic work they are doing. Some customers are even clapping down the phone to the staff in the office.”  By stepping up capacity, Wiltshire Farm Foods is now taking orders from new customers including a special introductory offer of four meals for £9.99 which will help even those on a tight budget in these challenging times, and until August have a unique opportunity to try a very special menu prepared by Michelin starred Chefs. Anyone thinking about using the service, either for themselves or for a relative, should give it a try. New customers are always pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Delivery can be arranged within a couple of days and there’s no contract or subscription.
