Space planning with a personal touch

News | September 30, 2020

A happy workforce is a productive one and a comfortable, modern and well-presented environment to work in plays a major part in ensuring that outcome. Whether it’s creating a new layout in an existing office or getting premises ready before an office move, Paradigm Office Furniture offers a personal touch backed by 20 years’ experience in the furniture sector.
Since Jon Bautista founded the business two years ago, Paradigm has made its mark across the region, providing a service that covers everything from a single desk and chair for a home office right through to its major strength, project management that takes the stress and hassle of planning a new office away from the client.

.
In the past six months or so, that expertise has been in further demand as companies called in Jon and his team to oversee new layouts that were carefully designed to make colleagues returning to work after lockdown feel as comfortable and safe as possible. “Our specialism is turnkey solutions for those who are looking for a new office, whether that’s arelocation or a refresh,”saidJon. “With 35 manufacturers to choose from, there’s something to suit all budgets, and all requirements, from desks and chairs to screens, breakout areas and collaborative areas. “Workplaces are very different these days and they have to look good to new and prospective employees. People want to see that their company has made an effort, not only in providing all the furniture and equipment they need, but also creating an environment that is good to work in and considers their wellbeing.

“That’s become increasingly important this year. Where people were returning after lockdown they wanted to feel safe, but they also wanted to feel comfortable and we’ve worked with existing and new clients to create an office that meets all the guidelines but where employees don’t feel restricted or separated from their colleagues. A lot of people were keen to get back into the office, but a lot of that was about collaboration and interaction, they didn’t want to go back feeling like they were penned in and we had to be careful about how we did that.”

The process at Paradigm is to begin with an in-depth discussion with the client about what they are looking for and how best the space can be used. Online information about the products available is a starting point, but where appropriate, clients can visit manufacturer’s showrooms or even have furniture in the office on a trial basis before they make a final
decision. Based on those requirements, the Paradigm design team will create 2D and 3D visuals, using clients’ branding and colours where requested, to create a vision that can be discussed by all relevant parties before work begins. At that point, Paradigm will oversee the entire process, delivering a completed project that will deliver both comfort and increased productivity. “Effective space planning and a fresh, modern look will help with people retention and attracting new blood to the company,” said Jon. “We see that potential and help the client realise it, taking into consideration the needs of individuals and teams to help them work together and communicate successfully. “Companies are looking at their workspaces quite differently now, and although we don’t know how long COVID restrictions will be with us, I think most firms are thinking that in the medium to long-term, people are going to feel they need a certain level of protection and so changes are not necessarily temporary. That could mean hygiene protection screening to create workspaces, zones and walkways to keep staff and visitors safe. “We can help them with that and, of course, where they choose to have staff working from home, or for those people who have taken the decision to work from home, our services are available to them, too. If it’s just a desk and a chair for a home office, we’re happy to help, it’s not just about large-scale projects.”
