Estate agents report boom in business

News, Property | November 30, 2020

The housing market in Corby has been going through a massive boom, according to leading estate agents in the borough.

Between July and October, the UK experienced a surge in home buying with the latest figures showing there are 50% more homes progressing through the sales system than this time last year.

This picture has been mirrored in Corby where some agents have reported increases in business of more than 50% in recent months.

Managing director Bobby Singh Braich, of leading estate agents Belvoir in George Street, Corby, said: “The housing market in Northamptonshire – and in Corby in particular – is currently incredibly buoyant. Our latest figures show the number of instructions we received this September rose over 60% compared with the same time last year, there was a similar trend in our lettings department too.

“In recent weeks we’ve sold homes within 24 hours of them going on our books. This is partially due to the fantastic range of housing stock we have in Corby and the incredible value for money the area represents. During the past 12 months nearly 500 homes have been sold in Corby and even though the area has experienced a boost in value of 0.7% it was still the least expensive postcode to buy a property in, in Northamptonshire.”

The increase in business has also been attributed to the Stamp Duty holiday which applies to any home valued up to £500,000, as long as the transaction is completed by 31 March 2021, and the backlog of enquiries that mounted up during the height of the nationwide lockdown.

Industry experts are predicting the upturn in sales will continue over the next three months.
