Sustainable X shows Bedfordshire businesses how to make sustainability pay

News | February 8, 2021

Sustainable X™

Hertfordshire entrepreneurial duo Rondi Allan and Nick Reilly are leading the way helping businesses tackle sustainability with the launch of Sustainable X™.

Sustainable X™ has been developed to support forward-thinking firms plot their social, environmental and economic impacts, gain certification and get a decent return on investment from being more sustainable. Director Rondi Allan explains,

“Sustainable X™ came from our shared interest in sustainable business and urgency of working towards sustainable development goals. Our focus is all about making sustainability profitable. Our research shows that almost 90% of business-to-business customers ask suppliers about sustainability and 70% of employees want to introduce and get involved in sustainability initiatives. What that means in practical terms will vary but many companies don’t have a plan and many simply don’t know where to start.

Sustainability is often seen as a necessary evil but customers and investors are increasingly choosing to buy from or invest in businesses taking a proactive approach. Sustainability isn’t just about being green because it’s the right thing to do. It helps you recruit the best staff, gain competitive advantage and enhance your reputation as well as reducing energy, fuel and waste.

The energy and commitment our process generates in people we’re working with is infectious. We’re already seeing customers benefit from taking action. Having run SME and large businesses ourselves, we know the day-to-day pressures and challenges that businesses face. We’ve developed our process and tools to do the heavy lifting at the start so businesses can make headway quickly and have a clear pathway to follow.”

Formerly a Price Waterhouse Chartered Accountant with significant manufacturing and supply chain experience, Rondi is originally from Australia, has worked extensively on four continents and been a board member in 6 countries. Originally from Northern Ireland, a Practitioner of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment, Nick’s background is in civil engineering and having been an MD and CEO in construction and utilities businesses, brings extensive leadership experience to the Sustainable X™ team.
