Copart UK announces major expansion in Bedfordshire

News | March 22, 2021

Leading online vehicle remarketing and recycling firm Copart UK today announces plans for a 27-acre expansion to its Sandy Operation Site in Bedfordshire.

The expansion will increase the size of the site to just under 60 acres, doubling the annual storage capacity to 80,000 vehicles.

The news represents further significant investment in the area by company, which opened its new Customer Excellence Centre in Franklin Court, Bedford, earlier this year, and brings the potential for future new employment opportunities.

It is the latest step in the company’s continuing rapid UK growth programme in sites across the UK to boost its overall vehicle capacity by 10% to meet growing customer demand. It follows recent announcements about expansions in Bristol, Wisbech and York, as well as plans for a new 31-acre site in East Kilbride, which will double the company’s operational capabilities in Scotland.

The expanded Sandy site will provide industry-leading vehicle storage and services for customers in Bedfordshire and across the south east.

Copart UK and Ireland Managing Director Jane Pocock said:

“These expansion plans for our Sandy Operation Centre will further strengthen our presence and operational capabilities in Befordshire and will provide more future employment opportunities in this area.

“Despite the challenges of the past year, it has been and continues to be an exciting period of growth and reinvestment for Copart.”

Subject to all relevant planning permissions, Copart anticipates the additional 27 acres at the Sandy Operation Centre, which currently employs around 80 people, to be operational by December 2021.
