Former player heads up new team

Finance, News | April 1, 2021

As Fortus Business Advisors & Accountants nears its first anniversary, the business has widened its support to clients through the creation of a Sport & Entertainment offering, led by ex-professional footballer Andrew Johnson.

Johnson spent 19 years playing at the highest level at clubs including Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham and Birmingham City, culminating in a two-year spell as a member of the England football team.

Andrew said, “I’ve been fortunate to experience a great deal during my professional career, from both a football playing and a business perspective. More importantly, I appreciate the importance of planning for life after sport, and the need to have forward-thinking, trusted advisors who can provide the right level of support when it comes to owning and leading businesses.

“I’ve known the team at Fortus for a long time and understand the value they can bring to business owners. It’s an exciting time to be joining the business, to support its continued growth and to head up a sector I’m very close to.”

The Fortus Sport & Entertainment advisory team won’t only be working with current and former athletes now involved in business, but will also support business owners operating in the world of sport, media and entertainment. This will include businesses operating in fan engagement, media production, sports sponsorship, and the growing world of Esports.

Rob Quinn, Managing Director of Fortus Creative Industries said: “The past 12 months at Fortus have been extremely positive, with the creative industries offering being incredibly well-received by the industry. So, this announcement is a natural extension to our service offering given the cross-over of sport and entertainment into the creative and media landscape. Andrew’s well known to the business and his blend of experience from sport and industry is one we look forward to sharing with our clients now and in the future.”

Operating in line with its values of Distinctive, Inclusive, Valuable and Courageous, and by utilising the experience and expertise across the organisation, Fortus aims to deliver sustainable and valuable growth for its clients and their businesses through establishing long-term relationships.

Fortus currently operates UK-wide including offices located in the creative and media industry hotspots of London, Leeds and Milton Keynes.
