Dealmaker steps up to a new level

News, Property | April 30, 2021

Drake Commercial are delighted to confirm the appointment of Joe Smith as an Equity Partner in the business.

Joe joined Drake Commercial back in 2015, having previously worked at LSH and BNP Paribas in Birmingham. He arrived as an Associate, before working his way up to Partner level and has now joined existing Equity Partners Nicholas Roberts, David Smith and Tom Drake. Tony Drake also continues to provide his expertise in his consultancy role.

After what has been a fairly unpredictable year, this appointment is reward for Joe’s efforts and shows the confidence Drake Commercial have as a business in the commercial property market, in particular the industrial and warehouse sectors, which have proved extremely robust during the last 12 months. Take up stats in this field are significantly ahead of the figures for previous years.

Joe himself has been evidence of this, achieving national recognition from the Estates Gazette, having been crowned as Northamptonshire’s Most Active Deal Maker in consecutive years for 2019 and 2020. The Estates Gazette’s Radius Data Exchange analyses national statistics to give out local, regional and national awards, for the most active agents in their fields.

Drake Commercial were recently named in the top 5 Most Active Agents in the whole of the East Midlands region, which meant they were were the highest placing non-multi-office practice.

Joe Smith said: “I am delighted to be stepping up to Equity Partner and demonstrating my long-term commitment to the business. The fact that our take-up stats have beaten recent years, is testament to all our hard work over the last 12 months and we look forward to continuing to provide strategic advice to our clients, and ultimately achieving the best deals.”

Tom Drake added: “Whilst the last 12 months have been a little uncertain for many, the fact that we are continuing to grow and drive the company forwards, demonstrates the results we have produced for our clients and shows our continued ambition.”

Drake Commercial now have nearly 150 years of combined experience and are market specialists in the industrial, warehouse, logistics, office and business space sectors, working throughout the UK but with particular expertise along the M1 corridor between the East Midlands and Northern Home Counties.

With offices in Northampton and Milton Keynes, the firm is able to support clients throughout this area in a wide range of roles but with particular focus on agency, investment and landlord and tenant/lease advisory matters.
