Quinton House School adds an extra layer of safety to combat coronavirus

News | May 4, 2021

Called AIR by Atmos-Clear, these compact devices will be used in classrooms to effectively ‘clean the air’ and make the school environment as safe as possible for students returning to face-to-face learning.

Quinton House School is a forward-thinking co-educational independent school that is focused on bringing innovative products to its students. Based in Northamptonshire, it has 392 pupils who learn in a beautiful, listed building which dates back to the 12th century.

In preparation for re-opening after the latest coronavirus lock-down, Quinton House has purchased a number of AIR by Atmos-Clear UVC-LED air sanitising units as an extra layer of safety to the coronavirus risk mitigation routines already in place in addition to making the school environment as comfortable and safe as possible.

The AIR units are proven to destroy 99.9% of all airborne and surface bacteria and viruses (including SARS-CoV-2) and will be installed in the school’s classrooms to create a completely sanitised room environment and bring confidence to its pupils and teachers.  Once plugged in via a wall socket the units work by silently pulling dirty air into the unit through side vents in its base. The air is then treated with ultra-violet germicidal irradiation using proven UVC-LED technology which destroys the DNA of microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria, mould and fungi, rendering them ‘disrupted’ and unable to reproduce. The air that is then pushed out of the unit is not only clean air, but continually ‘cleaning’ air, as the disrupted DNA latches on and remains killing viruses and bacteria to create a completely sanitised environment.

Jo Storey, Principal at Quinton House says:

“At Quinton House School, the health and safety of our children is our top priority and during this pandemic, the needs are even greater.  We are delighted to be partnering with Atmos-Clear and piloting its ‘confidence boosting’ innovative AIR UVC-LED sanitisers in several areas within the school.  Our science department, including students, will be working with Atmos-Clear to conduct fun experiments involving the sanitisers so that the students can get involved in the reality of engineering and see first-hand how it comes into place.”

Jo concludes:

“It’s a privilege to work with a British company like Atmos-Clear who has the health and safety of everyone at the forefront of its futuristic technology and advancements.”

In addition to Quinton House School, Atmos-Clear has another Northamptonshire connection.  Former Northampton Saints and England international rugby stars Ian Hunter and Matt Dawson are share-holders in the AIR by Atmos-Clear business.

Ian Hunter says:

“I’m super-proud to be involved with a company like Atmos-Clear who responded to the government’s cry to manufacturing businesses to help fight this dreadful pandemic.  And within 10 months they had delivered this game-changing product which is a great demonstration of British engineering at its best.”  After extensive research and development, AIR is ASTM E3135-18 certified to kill 99.9% of viruses, bacteria & fungi using proven UVC LED tech.

Matt Dawson says:

“Unlike  other air products on the market, AIR has no filters, no extras and you get 5 years of safe, silent, confident protection certified to kill 99.9% of viruses, bacteria & fungi. You just plug it in, push a button and done.”
