Baker Brothers big boost for community causes

News | June 23, 2021

Big-hearted Bedford based business, Baker Brothers Diamonds, is launching a project providing support for local charities, schools and community causes.

Big-hearted Bedford based business, Baker Brothers Diamonds, is launching a project providing support for local charities, schools and community causes.

The family-run jeweller has helped numerous good causes over the years and has now announced plans to establish a community fund dedicated to supporting local organisations and groups.

Baker Brothers Director, Lizzie McAuley, said: “Launching our community fund will continue our Dad’s legacy as he did so much for children’s charities and it was always our plan to carry this on in his memory.

“Baker Brothers has always contributed to a variety of community causes through a combination of donations and raffle prizes to boost fundraising efforts, but we wanted to do so much more to help. During this pandemic we’ve seen how it’s brought the community back together and highlighted how important it is to look after your community.”

There will be a range of different ways the new Baker Brothers Community Fund will provide help to schools, charities, community groups, sports clubs and good causes in the Bedfordshire area. To mark the launch of the community fund Baker Brothers wants to recognise all the hard work of local school children by providing classmates with some tasty treats for an end-of-year school summer picnic for up to 100 pupils!

Local schools in the Bedfordshire area have the chance to win a fun filled picnic prize package, worth hundreds of pounds, to celebrate the end of the academic year this July. Schools are being encouraged to nominate themselves for the Baker Brothers Community Fund End-of-Year picnic via the jeweller’s Facebook page @bakerbrothersdiamonds for the chance to win an eating extravaganza for pupils to enjoy.

Mum-of-two, Lizzie said: “We want to celebrate and reward all the hard work and efforts of the children and their teachers during what has been a challenging time for everyone. We would encourage parents of pupils to nominate their school for the chance to win this special summer picnic package. Baker Brothers will provide the food and drink for a fun picnic that they can enjoy together, whatever the weather!”

Anyone wanting to nominate their school can find out more details by going to @bakerbrothersdiamonds https://www.facebook.com/bakerbrothersdiamonds.

All nominations must be received by the closing date of 30th June, 2021 and one lucky school will be randomly selected as the winner on 1st July, 2021.

The inaugural school picnic competition to celebrate the launch of the Baker Brothers Community Fund will be one of many ways the business plans to provide exciting experiences, support, sponsorship and donations for community causes throughout 2021 and beyond.

Lizzie added: “People know we’re a family-run firm, their local jeweller; however it’s also nice to give something back on a personal level. Establishing the Baker Brothers Community Fund will take our ongoing local support to another level, it’s that feel good factor of giving to those in the community that need help the most.”
