Experience the magic of Christmas at Delapré Abbey through the ages. The historic house, just one mile south of Northampton town centre, is always a popular choice for winter celebrations with its grand, atmospheric rooms, award-winning food and 550 acres of secluded parkland.
This year, the Abbey is offering businesses the opportunity to bring staff together with exclusive, private hire of fine-dining restaurant, Hibiscus. On Mondays to Wednesdays throughout December, the opulent surroundings of the Billiard Room – with views stretching across the South Lawn – is available to enjoy. With packages starting from £65 per person, the AA rosette-awarded restaurant will serve its signature seasonal menu, with welcome drinks, canapes and petit fours.
Exceptional service and a night to remember is guaranteed at Hibiscus, which received two top awards at the Weetabix Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards 2020/21. The restaurant was awarded gold status in the Booker Dining Venue of the Year category, while head chef Samuel Squires, was named Chef of the Year.
The festivities continue with The Orangery café’s Christmas dinner and live music on Friday 10 and Friday December 17. Relax and unwind in the historic 19th century dining room with a traditional Christmas dinner, prosecco on arrival, and a selection of winter canapes for £45 per head. Dancing continues next door in the picture-perfect drawing room – a stunning backdrop for capturing special moments with colleagues. Head chef, Bart Polinski, is a finalist in the Chef of the Year category at the forthcoming Weetabix Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards so delicious food is a given.
Alongside memorable food and drink, the Abbey is running a programme of festive activities including a Christmas Fair, tours of the historic house by candlelight, wreath making workshops, and a Santa’s Grotto. The Abbey will also be decorated for the season with a giant Christmas tree, and will be open for visitors to discover 900 years of festive stories through general admission.
Richard Clinton, Chief Executive of Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust, said: “We’re looking forward to bringing everyone together and spreading some festive cheer after the challenges of the past 18 months. The Abbey is steeped in history and is a stunning place to unwind with family and friends and enjoy exceptional food and drink.”
Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust is a registered charity which relies upon income raised from activities to look after this special building and support its work in the community.
