Pub relaunches with a luxurious new look

Food & Drink, News | May 3, 2022

The Flying Horse

The Flying Horse, Clophill, has undergone a significant investment to give the much-loved eating and drinking destination a spectacular new look.

Continuing to offer a top-quality menu, The Flying Horse serves fresh flavours inspired by the seasons and modern world-food trends; guests can enjoy a broad range of premium grill dishes, and Asian influences, plus plenty of healthier and lower calorie options.

For those who fancy something from the grill, such as rotisserie pork belly or expertly aged steaks, there’s something to suit all tastes. Showcasing seasonal flavours, from pan-fried wild scallops with smoked haddock bonbons to hoisin and plum duck stir-fry, the menu is packed full of irresistible creations and comforting classics. There’s a vegan menu and all food is freshly prepared by an expert team of chefs using the very best ingredients.

The new and improved décor is a top-to-tail transformation, taking inspiration from the UK’s most luxurious country dining and drinking hotspots. The sophisticated design combines earthy, wooden tones with a rich warm palette, brass finishes and smooth leather, creating an opulent and cosy feel. Open log fires, plush velvet seating and feature lighting add a touch of glamour to this relaxing and inviting space. Expertly crafted furniture, eye-catching artwork and feature finishing touches, make the pub truly one of a kind.

The Flying Horse has incorporated a new bar as part of the extensive remodel – coming in at over nine metres long, it makes a statement as soon as customers enter the pub, elevating the space to a whole new level. Housed in a unique building, featuring many different building styles, the colour palette used complements and enhances the quirky exterior of the pub, utilising amazing wallpapers and rich velvets to give an opulent look. Another exciting addition is the new feature wine wall which divides up the large bar space, giving an intimate, yet upmarket, feel.

Jonathan Webb, General Manager at The Flying Horse for six years, said:

“We’re thrilled with the transformation – it looks absolutely stunning! The team and customers alike have been wowed by our new bar, and the feature wall has been a huge hit too. We’ve kept our open fires, for guests to cosy up next to, and have a new private dining area, perfect for celebrating special occasions. The re-opening marks a new chapter, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

To make the weekends extra special, guests will be able to share a Chateaubriand and a bottle of fine wine, such as Premier Cru Burgundy or Rioja Gran Reserva, for a delicious and indulgent treat. The roast dinners are not to be missed – on Sundays, diners can enjoy a hearty roast with all the trimmings with family and friends. There’s also plenty of delectable deserts to choose from including the Sicilian lemon posset and melting chocolate bomb.

Still offering fantastic value, the lunch menu includes dishes under 650 calories, hand-stretched stone-baked pizzas and freshly prepared sandwiches.

The extensive cocktail menu includes classics with a twist, such as a Koko Colada, everyone’s favourite Martinis and a selection of Spritz. To reserve a table or to sign up to the newsletter The Flying Horse. Follow The Flying Horse on Instagram for the latest updates.
