Howes Percival has appointed specialist commercial and technology lawyer, Chris White, as a Director within its Corporate, Commercial, and Banking (CCB) practice.

Based at the leading law firm’s Milton Keynes office, Chris re-joins Howes Percival from Dentons.

Chris advises on a wide variety of agreements and contracts and has worked for major international and city law firms, advising clients from small owner-managed businesses to major multi-national conglomerates. Chris has significant experience of working in-house through a number of secondments with leading retail companies. He is recognised as a key lawyer in the Legal 500 for both commercial and technology work.

Chris has advised on a host of complex manufacturing and distribution arrangements as well as service provision, supply and licensing arrangements across a broad range of sectors including logistics, warehousing and retail. He has also worked on all manner of IT, technology and e-commerce arrangements including major IT and telecoms hardware procurement and software development, licensing and support arrangements including SaaS/PaaS agreements and advising on data protection issues. He has a specific expertise in sports related work having advised the UK’s premier motorsport venue, a premiership rugby team and one of the World Cup organising bodies.

Paula Dumbill, Partner, and Head of Commercial at Howes Percival commented,

“I am delighted to welcome Chris back to Howes Percival. He is hugely respected in his field and a senior hire of his calibre is a huge feather in our cap, bolstering the growing firepower of our Commercial team.  It’s a testament to the quality of our commercial and technology work that we were able to attract someone like Chris.  His appointment is significant for Howes Percival as our third dedicated Commercial hire in less than 9 months.

“With so many businesses relying more on technology than ever before, we don’t see this genie being put back in the bottle and expect the demand for technical solutions, innovation and automation to continue – along with the need for lawyers with the right experience to document these developments.”

Paula continued,

“Chris is hugely experienced in commercial contracts – he handles everything from traditional supply and distribution arrangements to software and technology and outsourcing. Some of the contracts he gets involved with are necessarily complex and technical but Chris’ ability to cut through this together with his vast experience means he advises a very diverse range of clients, from start-ups, through owner-managed, entrepreneurial businesses, up to international and household names.

“His appointment will allow us to continue to grow our commercial work by promoting ourselves as commercial contracts specialists and, technology, infrastructure, and outsourcing experts.  Our offer will cover the range of commercial agreements required to regulate trading terms at all levels of the supply chain, with a particular focus on healthcare, automotive, food and beverage, leisure and tourism and education sectors.”

Howes Percival’s CCB practice advises clients on significant and transformational acquisitions, disposals, as well as a full range of contractual matters.  It also provides a dedicated banking and finance service to its borrower clients, banks, financial institutions, funds, and other lenders.  In recent years, the CCB team has grown to over 30 fee earners and been restructured to create three dedicated service lines – Corporate, Commercial and Banking – to enable the firm to offer a more specialist service to clients.
