Showing the sector how much it is appreciated

With the warehouse and logistics sector playing such a large part in the economy of Northamptonshire, it’s no surprise that an awards night dedicated to celebrating the industry has become increasingly popular since it was founded six years ago.

There’s still time to enter the 2022 Northamptonshire Logistics Awards, which will take place at the Park Inn in Northampton on Friday, September 16.

Three new sponsors have been announced recently, including SHEQ Group Ltd, the Corby-based health and safety and environmental and quality consultancy and training service provider, which will be sponsoring the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Award.

Meanwhile, Northampton College has been announced as the new sponsor of the Apprentice of the Year Award and UKWA – the UK Warehousing Association – will sponsor the Small Logistics Company of the Year Award.

Organised by the Northamptonshire Logistics Forum, there are 13 award categories up for grabs including Community Engagement Initiative, Team of the Year, HGV Driver of the Year and the Unsung Hero of the Year. Entry is free and you can nominate yourself, a colleague or a business.

Tony Bellott, Chairman of the Northamptonshire Logistics Forum said:

“We hear so much about how important the logistics sector is in this area, situated as we are in what’s known as the Golden Triangle and supporting to such a large extent the distribution of goods across the whole of the UK and worldwide.

“It’s important to show our appreciation for the hardworking and dedicated teams; from those in the warehouses to those out on the road, and the support services such as recruitment firms and training companies, that make the sector the success it is.

“We’re once again looking forward to a great evening in September, and encourage anyone who feels they or their company have a chance to win, or knows someone or an organisation that should be recognised, to get on the website and enter.”

Yvette Witcombe from Northampton College added:

“We have worked with the forum since its conception and are proud this year to be sponsoring the Apprentice of the Year Award. Everyone is familiar with, and are working hard to address, the skills shortages faced in logistics. Young people and apprentices are essential to ensure the sector remains robust in this county.”
