Club’s hospitality venue reopens following refurbishment

Sport | August 1, 2022

Bedford Blues’ newest hospitality and events venue, The Burrow at the Blues, has officially reopened as part of the club’s exciting plans at Goldington Road.

Five permanent TV screens have been installed to make the location more of a live sports destination, while there is a new and improved food and drinks menu on offer, with the kitchen currently being run by local business, Taylor’s Kitchen.

Opening hours are: Thursday and Friday (5-10pm), Saturday (12-10pm) and Sunday (12-5pm). The venue will also host event nights on each Thursday ranging from monthly comedy shows, quiz nights, bingo and private hires.

Blues Chief Operating Officer Gareth Alred said:

“This is an exciting time for the club on and off the field. Hopefully our investment into The Burrow will enable more people to enjoy the Blues and Goldington Road year-round.

“I must put on record our thanks to Matt and Alex from Burrow Venues for their help and support over the past 18 months, the venue is first class and they have been a pleasure to work with.

“We want to make The Burrow at the Blues the place to watch live sport in Bedford and hope our #BluesFamily supporters can get behind this
latest initiative.”

First opened in December 2021, The Burrow at the Blues was created after the COVID-19 lockdowns, allowing supporters to enjoy the Goldington Road atmosphere at a time when Championship rugby was still a few months off restarting.

A fully heated and seated venue, The Burrow at the Blues was the latest in a long line of initiatives between Bedford Blues and Burrow Venues following the highly successful Blues Beer Gardens, Oktoberfest and Christmas parties, all hosted from Bedford’s premier sporting club.

The Burrow at the Blues, which sold out for every Championship game last season, will again be a hospitality venue of choice in the 2022/23 campaign, but it is hoped that the refurbishment and updating will allow Goldington Road to become more than just a matchday meeting place.

Alex Bosman, of Burrow Venues, added:

“We are delighted the club see the value of the venue we jointly created and hand over the keys to the Blues team for its next chapter.

“We really appreciate all the support our customers have shown us at the club during these strange times and will hopefully see you all soon at local events over the summer or back at ‘The Burrow’ on the other side of the bar.”
