After looking to provide further flexibility in its delivery model, City Plumbing, which has over 350 branches across the UK, has sought the expertise of Northampton-based Panther Logistics, which is one of the UK’s foremost two-person delivery providers specialising in next-day delivery.
Keen to provide a variety of adaptable capabilities for customers, City Plumbing is utilising Panther’s next-day timed delivery service with late order cut offs, through which it will be delivering plumbing and heating products to the room of the customer’s choice.
It was Panther’s level of expertise, coupled with its solution-focused and flexible approach that tipped the scales in the decision-making process, as those capabilities were vital in helping support City Plumbing with the development of an additional fulfilment channel – a delivery model which has been implemented off the back of its renewed contract with major customer, British Gas.
All deliveries have been made from City Plumbing’s central 670,000 square foot warehouse facility in Warrington, a strategic decision that has paid dividends by streamlining the process – with deliveries being made from a central location direct to the customer next day with an order cut off time of 6pm.
In addition to engaging with Panther Logistics, City Plumbing has also invested in a new warehouse management and carrier management system to enhance its central fulfilment capabilities through managing stock more effectively and providing greater transparency throughout its end-to-end supply chain.
Panther Logistics has received excellent feedback on its delivery service to date to support City Plumbing’s new model and has received very positive response from customers, in particular with regards to its communication and customer engagement.
