The flying winger – who recently ascended to fifth in the all-time Blues try-scoring ranks – is going to be a huge asset for the charity moving forward and will play a key role in affecting the provision delivered across Bedfordshire, specifically with rugby but further afield with multisport as well.
Speaking about the news, Dean said:
“I’m very proud to be getting involved with Blues Foundation and it’s a great honour to be asked to help out the team.
“Blues Foundation have already done so much great work reaching out to schools and young people in the local area. Having been brought up in Bedford, I’m excited to go out into different schools and help put our values across to as many people as possible.”
Bedfordshire-born Dean has spent the majority of his rugby career within the area for Bedford and Ampthill and has already played an active part in Blues Foundation’s output to date with a keen eye and ear on proceedings at Goldington Road since launch as an official charity.
Named in the Championship Dream Team again this season, the fourth time in his career, Dean is one of the most notorious names in the second-tier and is very welcome at the charity.
Blues Foundation Manager, Tom Harwood said:
“Dean is synonymous with Bedford Blues and this town so it’s hugely humbling to have him on board with us as the latest Foundation Ambassador.
“His relevance and position as a role model for many Bedfordians is crucial and being from Bedford himself, Dean will know first-hand of some of the challenges experienced within the town and offer solutions of how we can tackle these in our provision and impact activation.
“We have now amassed a wealth of experience amongst our Ambassadors and knowledge stretching across multiple spheres which is extremely exciting in terms of our future development. The future is bright and I’m excited to see what we can do as a charity.”
