Supplying drivers that are a credit to any company

Professional Services | June 1, 2023

As any O licence holder, transport manager and business owner will tell you, one of the most difficult aspects of any logistics operation is not just keeping vehicles out on the road but having a trained, compliant and engaged team to drive them.

There’s always a danger that drivers can feel sidelined. They spend a great deal of time on their own, out on the road, and can sometimes feel separated from the heart of the business operation.

But, given the potential problems your company might face if there are any issues out on the road, it pays to invest time and money to ensure your drivers are up to date with their training, understand and can demonstrate good working practices, and are proud to do a good job as the representatives of your business in their customer- facing role.

Because our clients work hard to develop and maintain the quality of their driving team, at More Driver Solutions (MDS) we believe that it is important for us to do the same; to ensure that our agency drivers can step into a client’s team, even at short notice, and perform their duties to a high standard.

In order to achieve that, we only recruit drivers that meet our demanding standards; we expect them to look smart in our uniform and we want them to remember at all times how important their role is and how avoiding issues on the road is the biggest saver of time and money. Dealing with the aftermath of an accident, a breakdown or delays come at an expense to the business in many ways, not just financially, but in terms of safety and reputation. We have to do everything we can to avoid any such issues.

At MDS we have a number of initiatives that we provide to maintain and improve our driver standards.

  • Tool Box Talks: We use external training provider Road Skills Online to deliver short, regular and relevant training sessions. Talks last up to 15 minutes and comprise of an easy-to-watch video with a short test at the end to ensure full understanding.
  • Driver Welfare: We never lose sight of the fact that drivers need to feel like they are a part of the team. They are often working unsociable hours, in a solitary environment, external to our operation, so we make sure we put regular calls in to check on their welfare. Asking for their feedback and getting their insight on the good and bad points of their placement is invaluable to improving our service to our clients and drivers.

We are always looking to partner with businesses that operate a well-maintained and tidy fleet for their workforce. We don’t run a fleet, but we do make sure our drivers are provided with uniform that is smart and comfortable. It’s all about making people feel proud and creating a positive image for our clients.

At MDS it is important that we reinvest in our workforce both out on the road and in our office to ensure we are providing the best quality service. We are in full support of improving the image of industry and are pleased to the see the positive shift in recent years with regards to driver welfare and standards.

We are accredited by the Logistics UK Agency Excellence scheme and manage our drivers similar to a transport operation to support our clients’ needs.

Because we have pride in our drivers, our customers can rest assured that the agency drivers we supply will slot into their team seamlessly.

Years of experience and investment will ensure a driver from More Drivers will meet expectations and our extensive database will guarantee cover at all times. We are in the perfect position to provide a solution to any company that need additional drivers either on a permanent or temporary basis.
