Inspire 2 Ignite CIC to launch “Curious About MK” programme; bridging the gap between industry and young talent

News | August 7, 2023

Inspire 2 Ignite CIC is set to launch the groundbreaking “Curious About MK” programme in Milton Keynes, offering a solution to the challenge of finding talented 16-24 year olds with the right mindset. As a non-profit organisation, Inspire 2 Ignite CIC aims to bridge the gap between businesses and local talent, providing employers with an unfair advantage in the market through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Inspire 2 Ignite CIC, the home of the Curious Entrepreneurs, has announced the highly anticipated “Curious About MK” launch event in collaboration with MK:U and Incubation Nation CIC. Taking place on 12th September 2023, the event will launch Inspire 2 Ignite’s programme of entrepreneurial events and experiences in Milton Keynes, bridging the gap between industry and young talent. The launch event will explore the future of technology and construction in Milton Keynes and how programme partners can help attract more young, local talent to these industries.

Sam Squire, Lead Ignition Coach (and the future CEO of Inspire 2 Ignite CIC) will lead the launch event, alongside talented 16-24 year olds who have already been activated by Inspire 2 Ignite CIC. Squire (24) says;

“As the real experts, these young people will share their powerful stories, their unique perspectives on entrepreneurship and insight into how industry can engage with them. It’s vital that young people have their voices heard. We are giving them the platform; the young people are making incredible things happen for themselves.”

The MK:U Innovation Hub will play host to this launch event; welcoming Milton Keynes’ visionary leaders, industry pioneers, and forward-thinking individuals who are open to discussing the challenges of engaging, inspiring and activating economically inactive young adults in the city.

Alex Hughes (34), the Founder and Social Change Agent behind Inspire 2 Ignite CIC, said;

“We KNEW this day would come. Milton Keynes is jam-packed with innovation and talent, but with it’s own employment challenges, there is a significant gap between connecting young people with employment. This is where we come in.  We are bringing our expert and proven engagement with young people (we ARE young people!) and our connections with industry to transform Milton Keynes. If you are curious to find out more about our impact and to get in on the action, I’d love to meet you at our launch event. If you can’t wait til then, drop me a message!”

Inspire 2 Ignite CIC is committed to motivating and engaging economically inactive young adults by offering mentorship, coaching, and support to cultivate their entrepreneurial spirits, explore their abilities and pursue their dreams. The launch event in Milton Keynes is a long-awaited milestone for the social enterprise, signifying the start of a new chapter as they extend their impact to the city.

In November 2022, at our Cambridge Launch Event, founder of Incubation Nation, Samantha Poole said that her commitment to young people is;

“to bring Inspire 2 Ignite CIC to Milton Keynes with MK:U. It’s very hard for me, as a Mum of a 16 year old who is NEET. There is nothing for him. There is a big drug culture coupled with little provision for those who don’t fit into the traditional school system. But to have support from positive role models like Alex, people who have turned their lives around and talk young people’s language, it’s so special, as it’s a very lonely place to be. Collaboration is key and we are so happy to be working with Alex and the team to unlock the opportunities here in Milton Keynes, together.”

Kristian Mackie, MK:U Innovation Hub Manager said;

“Bringing Inspire 2 Ignite CIC to Milton Keynes is going to make a real difference to the people of Milton Keynes. It will change the way the city looks at problems. We want to be a shining beacon of light for the rest of the UK, showing how our incredible city brings life-changing initiatives to its young people!”
