Heartwarming response to initiative to support young adults

There are few things more warming, healthy and comforting than a bowl of soup – and YMCA MK are delighted to be launching their winter fundraising campaign, SoupFest23, on October 4.

Two local companies, Cranswick Foods and Brioche Pasquier, have added their support to SoupFest23, sponsoring the recipe book that will be produced alongside the campaign.

Through the support and accommodation YMCA MK provide, and via the services they deliver on the ground across Milton Keynes, YMCA MK support hundreds of young people alongside their families and communities each year.

One resident said:

“YMCA means a second chance to me – the trauma I have experienced could have led me to self-destruct but there is more support here than anywhere I have ever been. If you want the help staff here will support you to change for the better.”

YMCA is the only provider of supported housing dedicated to young adults aged 18-35 in Milton Keynes, and since 1981 it has helped more than 10,000 young people by providing practical, emotional and employment support to enable young people to belong, contribute and thrive.

The Milton Keynes campus provides a home for over 200 young adults, while social enterprises such as the YMCA café, HomeGround, offer work experience, training and employment opportunities as well as raising money for the charity.

The charity are hoping SoupFest23 will be bigger and better than last year and there are a few ways the business community can get involved;

  • Like and share social media content
  • Buy the book for themselves or staff
  • Host a soup-er fundraising event

All funds raised will go to support young people in MK to fully realise their potential.

Rachel Tudhope, HR Manager at Cranswick Foods, said:

“For the second year in a row, we are proud to sponsor this brilliant soup book to support YMCA MK. Cranswick began working with the YMCA in 2022 and through our passion for food, and our mission to be a catalyst to reduce homelessness in Milton Keynes, they have become a key partner in our work.”

Angela Oliveira, Marketing Executive at Brioche Pasquier, added:

“We’re so excited to be this year’s co-sponsors of SoupFest23 and be able to support YMCA MK by getting involved with this brilliant fundraising campaign. YMCA play an important role in our community here in Milton Keynes. SoupFest is a perfect excuse to get together and enjoy some delicious soup, whilst supporting an important cause and making a difference.”

The soup recipe book can be ordered from the YMCA MK website from October 4 and follow YMCA MK on social media for ‘soup-dates’!
