Firm kicks off its sponsorship of standout midfielder

Finance | November 1, 2023

As a firm, Hawsons is always looking for new ways to support the local business community, and has previously shown its commitment through various charity fundraisers.

Now, Hawsons is excited to announce it is sponsoring Scotland’s Under 21 international midfielder, Marc Leonard, for this year’s League One fixtures at Northampton Town Football Club.

Marc is a former Rangers youth player who joined the academy at Premier League team Brighton & Hove Albion from Heart of Midlothian in 2018. He was first signed on loan by the Cobblers from Brighton in July 2022.

He enjoyed a successful 2022-23 season at Sixfields in which he made 45 appearances and helped the club secure promotion to League One. He has also made seven appearances for the Scotland U21 team, making his debut against Denmark in the 2023 European qualifiers. He is a highly rated player and he has re-joined the Cobblers for a second season on loan.

Hawsons Partner David Owens said:

“We are delighted to sponsor Marc this year, he is an extremely talented young player who was a standout player in Northampton’s promotion from League Two last year. We are excited to follow his progress this season.”

Hawson’s Aimee Smith added:

“David Owens and I went along to the Northampton v Reading game on October 3 to see Marc in action and to meet him. It was a great experience and we look forward to attending more games as the season progresses. The game ended 3-1 to Northampton and Marc was given Man of the Match – we couldn’t have asked for a better evening to go!”

Hawsons feel it’s important to be involved with the local community and that sponsoring a player is a good way to do so. David Owens and fellow Partner Aaron Hemmington will be attending the player sponsor dinner later this month, where they will have the opportunity to speak to Marc one-on-one as well as fellow sponsors and other individuals at the ground.

The Hawsons team can’t wait to see what Marc does on the pitch this season. Good luck to the Cobblers!
