Director Seb Tubb, who took the decision to set up his own practice earlier this year, has a background as a tax and business advisory specialist with PWC, KPMG and Mazars. He’s now focusing on those that need advice and assistance as they keep their businesses moving forward despite the uncertain times.
ProbiTax’s services are divided into three elements: Tax, including both company and personal tax returns and advisory/planning; Advisory, business planning and strategic adviser relationships; and Accounting, which covers the regular accounting services a business may need.
Seb, a former Northampton Saints player, and treasurer of the Northampton Saints Past Players Association, said: “Personal service and the relationship with the client are probably more important now than ever before, and we need to meet each business’s and individual’s specific needs. It’s important to work with the client to identify their needs and advise on the best course for that organisation/individual.
“Most business owners are very good at what they do, the day-to-day running of the business, but they simply don’t have time to look closely at their strategy financially – we can do that, and by doing so will enable them to focus on what they do well.
“It has been a challenging year, and the disruption has affected many businesses and individuals, and it is difficult to plan for the future when things are uncertain, but it’s important not to lose sight of that. You need to know where you’re going and how to get there. No one really knows with any clarity how long this situation is going to go on, or to what extent it will affect businesses, but you can still plan for the future.”
What the changes to working practices over the past few months have done is to make it easier for firms like ProbiTax to help a wider range of clients, as geographical issues, which may have been seen as obstacles, are no longer present and hence they are now viewed as a credible and real alternative.
“Since I started the business, I have been humbled by the warm and encouraging messages I’ve had from people I have dealt with in the past, wishing me well,” said Seb. “It feels good because I have always had a focus on building strong, lasting relationships with people, and that certainly seems to have worked and is starting to pay dividends.
“Building those relationships must now be done in a different way, of course. It’s very difficult to have a face-to-face meeting over coffee as we would have done before. But the benefit of online meetings is that location is no longer an issue – I can set something up with anyone, anywhere in the country, and give them the assistance they need just as easily as I can with someone in Northampton or Milton Keynes.
“There’s a lot to do in terms of businesses getting back on track after the problems they have faced this year but there’s also a lot of opportunities out there, and we’re here to help.”
